Camp Alger Stereographs
Camp Russell A. Alger was located alongside a five mile stretch of the Southern Railroad that extended from Falls Church to Dunn Loring. It was a stop for American troops heading to the Spanish American War (April 21 – December 10, 1898). Camp Alger was shut down in August, 1898 after a typhoid outbreak ravaged the population there.
Stereographs were viewed through a device called a stereoscope would create a three-dimensional image for the viewer.
